Production of printed box samples (printed packaging prototypes). Instructions for beginners

Production of printed box samples (printed packaging prototypes). Instructions for beginners

Important information about the printing of sample packs

We can produce one or, in most cases, several boxes with printing, but in this case the printing will be done digitally. If you plan to produce larger quantities of packaging using other printing methods (for example, offset or flexographic), our sample packaging may be brighter and the areas of the packaging covered with more ink (the backgrounds) may be shinier.

Because the sample packaging is printed in the well-liked CMYK mode rather than PANTONE, the colour on the sample box may seem somewhat different if the boxes are printed using inks from the PANTONE colour palette. In this case, PANTONE colours are automatically converted to CMYK colours, which can lead to colour mismatches. It is more complicated if the printing on the packaging prototype has to be in white, gold or silver. The use of these inks can increase the cost of producing packaging samples.

The brightness of the print or the surface gloss of the sample packs is not very important if the sample pack is to be photographed for advertising or e-commerce. The nuances of the print are not very noticeable in the photo. Also, a graphic designer may always make expert adjustments to your photos.

What you need to make a sample of printed packaging

Printed boxes are needed to produce samples:

  1. Professional box drawing.
  2. Qualified print ready packaging layout.

If you can provide us with these files, we will make sample print boxes from these files quickly and the sample print boxes will not cost you much.

What if there is no box drawing or packaging design

If you don't already have package layouts and drawings, you should start by creating a box drawing, or more technically, a packaging design, especially if the box is made up of two or more components and inserts. If you know the internal or external dimensions of your product packaging and have chosen the desired box model, our designer will be able to draw a suitable box drawing (packaging design) based on this data.

The most effective approach to package an item or group of items for which you are unsure about the packaging's size is to send us samples of your products. Considering the intended use of the packaging – for example, for safe courier delivery, for sale on AMAZON, or for sale in supermarkets and/or delicatessens – our designers will advise the optimal box design. Moreover, designers will be able to precisely match the box's dimensions and create inserts to contain objects if necessary once they have genuine goods or products in their hands.

In any case, we will provide you with packaging samples/prototypes made from your choice of cardboard or corrugated cardboard for final evaluation and testing with the products.

How much does it cost to make a drawing of a box

The cost of a box drawing depends on the complexity of the task and we calculate the price of each packaging project individually. Please send your preferences to info@superbox.lt and we will send you a quote for the packaging project based on your details.

So that you just need to send one letter and our response reaches you more quickly:

  1. Describe the things you wish to pack, including their size and weight. Please send photos of these items. Provide pictures of the products being put if you require inserts in the box.
  2. If you know, please post the model of the box. If you don't know the model, please send us images of boxes you like the way they are folded (may be from the internet). We'll find it simpler to match the box model with you.
  3. Tell us what you plan to use the package for. For instance, packing cartons may be stacked five rows high on pallets, used for courier deliveries outside of Lithuania (to Latvia, Estonia, Finland, and even the USA), or positioned on a supermarket shelf, among other uses.

How to create a packaging design (box print layout)

Once the box has been accurately sketched, the package layout (design) may be developed on top of the sketch (the box outline). There are two ways to prepare the layout (print file). If you have a designer of your own, you may provide them the box drawing we created together with the technical specifications for the package layout, and they will make the box layout for printing.

The alternative is to put your faith in our design team, who have been creating packaging for over a decade and are very interested in new and emerging packaging design trends. Some of our designers have developed a distinctive style. We are thrilled that the packaging created by our designers has received gold prizes at shows in Lithuania, enhanced value for our clients, and improved sales.

How much does it cost to create a packaging box design (packaging layout)

The cost of a package design depends on your wishes and resources.

It's ideal if you have your own printing-friendly logo and branding assets. PNG, GIF, and JPG pictures seen online are not appropriate for printing. Only the curved version of the logo or trademark, which is frequently offered as an AI, PDF, or EPS, is appropriate for printing.

It is a great advantage if there is a brand style description (BRANDBOOK). It outlines the brand colours that may be used in the packaging design or even that must be used.

It is very helpful if you already have a vision of how you want your product packaging to look. You can put your vision into words, draw it or illustrate it with images you like from the internet. Sometimes we are also presented with live examples of packaging that have already been produced, which are the inspiration for our own original product packaging design.

You should either have a professional image of the product already taken or have one shot by a professional photographer that specialises in product photography if you need one for the packaging.

We will provide you a pricing quotation for the package design/layout after evaluating your brief, the needs for the packaging design, and the information you have on hand. Please send your enquiry to info@superbox.lt
