What does the percentage of recycled fiber in corrugated cardboard mean?
The percentage of recycled fiber shows what proportion of the paper fiber used to make corrugated cardboard comes from recycled raw materials.
For example, if it is stated that corrugated cardboard contains 31% recycled fiber, it means that approximately 31% of the fiber used in its production is recycled, and the remaining part is virgin fiber.
It is important not to confuse the packaging material composition with the amount of recycled fiber in the material itself. A box can be made of 100% corrugated cardboard, but the corrugated cardboard itself may contain, for example, 31%, 70%, or another proportion of recycled fiber.
