What are the best fillers for the box? Ideas and tips

When packing different items, especially when there is more than one item in a box, it’s often a problem of arranging them orderly. These items are often not of the same size, weight or shape, so they will shift, twist and rattle if simply placed in the box. As a result, once unboxed, the recipient will see not so nice and tidy view as the packers might originally intended.

If a packed mailer box travels to its final recipient via parcel machines or couriers, it is moved, bounced and handled much more than when it is when passed from hand to hand. In such cases, one should consider not only the nice layout, but also the protection function to minimise the potential for movement during shippingAs items move around the box and rub against each other, their surfaces get damaged, labels rubbed off or even caps of powdery or liquid products come off, leading to serious disappointment for the final recipient.

These problems can easily be solved by using packaging fillers. SUPERBOX offers a wide selection of fillers. They can be divided into two groups: decorative fillers and decorative-functional fillers.

Decorative fillers include silk paper and soft paper shavings.

Uses of silk paper

Void cushioning has the primary role of keeping the contents of your mailer box safe and secure and also play an aesthetic roleThey are ideal for packing lightweight items and for filling small empty spacesSilk paper can be crumpled and stuffed as filler, or it can be used to wrap the item to be packed.

We have many colours to choose from, so you can match your fillers to your packaging, product, branding style or logo colours. As these fillers are very lightweight and soft, they will deflate or compress under heavier weights, so we suggest choosing decorative-functional fillers for heavier items or filling a larger packaging space.

Decorative-functional fillers are not only attractive – they are also harder and therefore better hold items inside the package. This group includes rigid paper shavings, wood shavings and cardboard or corrugated board inserts.

That being said, not only is it a nice way to fill the packaging, but it also protects the items better during shipment. These fillers also come multicoloured.

If necessary, we design and individually produce special cardboard or corrugated cardboard inserts, but we would like to point out that it is better to use this type of filler in cases where the packaged items are uniform. We will tell you more about the possibility of designing inserts in the next article.

Often, our customers ask – how many shavings do we need per packing box? You will find the answer to this question next to the description of each box, where we have indicated how many shavings are sufficient on average for packing that particular box.

Eventually, the good news is that all of the refills sold in SUPERBOX are made from paper or wood, so they can be recycled and contribute to a cleaner and more beautiful future for our planet.
